Happy November Everybody! First, I would like to congratulate the Boston Red Sox for winning the 2013 World Series.
Today's slate of games is a little unusual in the sense that three out of the current top five teams in the BCS are off this week. Even though #1 Alabama, #2 Oregon, and #5 Stanford have byes, today's schedule still has some very competitive games. ESPN's College Gameday was in Tallahassee, Florida, today for the #3 Florida State- #7 Miami game that will air later this evening at 8:00 PM Eastern on ABC. Both teams are undefeated and a loss from either of them would render one ineligible for the BCS National Championship at this date and time. Speaking of in-state rivalries, the Big Ten Legends division features #21 Michigan vs. #22 Michigan State (3:30 PM Eastern, ABC) in a match-up between the Wolverines' high-powered offense and the Spartans' highly ranked defense. A win here for Michigan State may them three games ahead of everyone else in their division. The third and final game between ranked opponents today can be found in BIG XII country, right in Buddy Holly's hometown of Lubbock, Texas. There, #15 Texas Tech will host #18 Oklahoma State. Since their loss against West Virginia in Morgantown earlier in the season, the Oklahoma State Cowboys have won three games in a row. But even if the Cowboys win today, that outcome will not change the Big XII standings unless both #6 Baylor and Texas lose their upcoming games. While Baylor is off this week, Texas will host Kansas today at 3:30 PM on The Longhorn Network.
As for the rest of the BCS top ten, #4 Ohio State at this point in the afternoon leads Purdue 49-0. #8 Clemson plays Virginia at 3:30 PM on ESPN, #9 Missouri hosts Tennessee this evening at 7:00 PM on ESPN, while #10 Oklahoma is off this week. As for my teams, Indiana hosts Minnesota (3:30 PM Big Ten Network) and West Virginia comes to Fort Worth to play TCU (3:30 PM ESPNU). Enjoy the day everyone!!
