A Top Ten Thursday Evening
I do not think I can recall the last time two games between top ten teams were played on a Thursday evening. But because of scheduling and the way the BCS rankings took shape over the last few weeks, the college football world has a situation that could have a substantial impact on the postseason. Tonight, starting at 7:30 PM Eastern, #10 Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1 BIG XII) will visit undefeated #6 Baylor (7-0, 4-0 BIG XII), and at 9:00 PM Eastern, #5 Stanford (7-1, 5-1 PAC-12) will host undefeated #3 Oregon (8-0, 5-0 PAC-12). Indeed, both games have conference championship and national title implications. All four teams have a chance with tonight's games to rise high enough in the rankings and put themselves in a position where at least one or two of them could play for the BCS National Championship. Unfortunately, that outcome depends on how #1 Alabama fares in its upcoming game against #13 Louisiana State. Thus we as fans will not know how much of an impact tonight's games will have on the National Championship race until the game clock expires in Tuscaloosa this Saturday. Enjoy tonight's games, Everybody!
