A lot of things have happened since the last time I updated this blog. All of the BCS bowls, including the National Championship game, have selected the teams that will compete in college football's most prestigious postseason contests. These games are as follows:
Rose Bowl: Wisconsin vs. #6 Stanford
Orange Bowl: #12 Florida State vs. #15 Northern Illinois
Fiesta Bowl: #5 Kansas State vs. #4 Oregon
Sugar Bowl: #3 Florida vs. #21 Louisville
National Championship: #1 Notre Dame vs. #2 Alabama
While all these games will be played in warmer climates, people living in the New York City metropolitan area will be treated to the 3rd annual Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium featuring West Virginia vs. Syracuse. Fans of West Virginia will be disappointed to hear that the game's organizers were considering the University of Pittsburgh as the Big East Conference's representative before they settled on Syracuse. Had they scheduled West Virginia and Pittsburgh, the Pinstripe Bowl would have revived the Backyard Brawl, an intense rivalry that ended after both schools announced in 2011 that they would leave the Big East for different conferences.
